Telephone Triage

In an attempt to manage the ever increasing demand on our appointment system, the surgery is trialling a new telephone triage system which we hope will ease the pressure for our ‘on the day/urgent’ appointments.
When requesting a same day or urgent appointment, the reception staff will take some basic details from patients and arrange for the on call doctor to ring back to assess the problem further (within a 2 hour period). The GP will then discuss the matter and manage it accordingly.
This may include self-care advice, a prescription or a face to face review in surgery. Please be assured that if you need an appointment you will be offered one. The trial of the new system will begin in June on 1 or 2 days throughout the week over the summer months.
